About Us

A word from Ty

This project is not for everyone.

It is not intended to be for everyone.

While we fully acknowledge that attached to every story there are victims, witnesses, suspects, and numerous others who were impacted by each of the situations, this is not about them.

As a person who has dedicated his life to public service, it is my sincere hope that every one of the people attached to these stories were treated fairly, received the assistance that they needed, and were fairly held accountable with an a court of law.

I started this project because a similar project was instrumental in my personal journey.

In 1986 a man named Mark Baker authored a book entitled “Cops: Their Lives in Their Own Words.”

That book captivated me and fueled by passion for police work. And there has never been another book like it.

Don't get me wrong, Blue on Blue: An Insider's Story of Good Cops Catching Bad Cops, written by Charles Campisi is awesome.

But, I've seached high and low for a book about the men and women who work the night shift, drink bad coffee, and laugh when they weren't supposed to.

And since I couldn't find it, I decided to create it.

So, with the help of my very good friend, James Gavin, we present to you the Choir Practice.

A word from Jim

These stories will be truth, fiction, fable, fantasy and a combination of all, and only those that submit each story will know the truth.

But we hope all who read them will enjoy the new version of the long and rich history of The Choir Practice.

It has been my pleasure to know my partner in this endeavor, Ty Campbell for over three decades, in a friendship that has gone from mere acquaintance in law enforcement to being family in thought and spirit.

We have both walked a path in law enforcement encompassing amazing highs and terrible lows.

And yes, I have the stories to tell.

As we embark upon this journey, let me openly express my thanks for all of the officers who have made it their mission to serve.

And, the utmost respect and admiration for all of those who have entrusted us with their stories.

Hold on ... it's going to be a fun ride.

Welcome to The Choir Practice.

Who are we ...
